Rotherham United 1-2 Wolverhampton Wanderers

Wolverhampton Wanderers denied strugglers Rotherham a third successive victory as they earned only their second win in nine Championship games.

James Henry gave the visitors an early lead, nipping in ahead of Harry Toffolo to direct a header into the far corner.

Rotherham were soon level, however, as Toffolo's cross-come-shot was flicked in off the post by Newell.

But Wolves got a first-half winner when Danny Batth converted a corner routine involving Jordan Graham.

Wolves climb one spot to 14th in the table, five points off the play-off places, while Rotherham remain in the relegation zone, a point from safety.

The Millers had a chance to level and applied severe pressure late on as both Batth and Jack Price made crucial interceptions.

Earlier, Grant Ward fired over from close range and Jonson Clarke-Harris was inches off connecting with a Ward cross.

Wolves had earlier dominated the opening stages. Henry and Batth were each denied by home goalkeeper Lee Camp before Rotherham equalised.

Wolves manager Kenny Jackett:

"I felt in the first half we gave Rotherham some problems. We deserved the lead. The second half was different.

"They swamped the midfield and we couldn't get the ball down too much but there wasn't a shot on target from either side in the second period.

"That suited us because we had the lead and were the away side. We dug it out in the second but played good football in the second.

"The Championship is a very powerful division. The top sides can do both. They can play and also dig it out. That's what we are aiming for."

Rotherham manager Neil Redfearn:

"I thought we were the better side. We had the weight of the possession and territory but the the difference was quality. The goals were poor from our point of view.

"We had one or two half-chances but we looked short up front.

"I thought we ran them close enough but we lacked the quality. The effort and the determination was there. There was nothing in the game. A point would have been a good point."
