Huddersfield secured their Championship status by grinding out a draw with Brighton & Hove Albion.

Greg Halford fired into the side-netting before Mustapha Carayol as Brighton went close in the first half.

Jacob Butterfield and Nakhi Wells both hit the woodwork for Huddersfield in the closing stages.

The point ended a run of three successive defeats for Brighton, who are seven points above the relegation zone.

The Seagulls have not scored a goal through one of their own players for nine hours and 20 minutes.

Midfielder Joao Teixeira, who is on loan at Brighton from Liverpool, was carried off on a stretcher after a challenge on Wells in the closing stages.

Chris Hughton: Brighton boss on draw with Huddersfield

Brighton manager Chris Hughton:

"The best thing to do from my point of view is to make sure we find out exactly what it is.

"He's gone to hospital for an X-ray and we know it was on his right ankle."

Huddersfield manager Chris Powell:

"I want us to top what we've done in previous seasons. I'd love us to get to 60 points, which would be something to achieve.

"I want us to finish the season unbeaten and we have still got another nine points to play for."
