Lucy Garner says she is still shocked by her victory in the junior women's road race in Denmark last week.
The 17-year-old from Cosby in Leicestershire recovered from a fall early in the race to secure the gold medal in Copenhagen.
She told BBC East Midlands Today: "It's amazing. I don't think it's really sunk in yet. Going across the line and knowing that I had won was just crazy."
Garner's gold helped Britain finish top of the World Road Cycling medal table.
The team won a total of two gold medals, two silver and two bronze.
