Derbyshire's Billy Godleman scored a century on day one against Kent.

Godleman made 108 while Wayne Madsen hit 46 but the hosts slipped from 178-2 to 253 all out, with Matt Hunn taking 3-45 and Calum Haggett 3-70.

Kent closed 226 runs behind on 27-0 with Robert Key unbeaten on 18 and Daniel Bell-Drummond on eight not out.

But of more pressing concern to Kent and England will be the injury to one-day international player Sam Billings, who dislocated his finger.

Billings was part of the England one-day team which defeated New Zealand 3-2 earlier in the summer and was tipped to keep his place for the upcoming ODI series against Australia, which is expected to be named at the conclusion of the Ashes series.

Kent tweeted:, external "Sam Billings has dislocated a finger and has gone to hospital for a precautionary X-Ray."
