It could be operational as soon as 2004. It's hoped the airport will create 7,000 jobs. Finningley will aim to handle 2m passengers each year by 2014. This would make it around the same size as East Midlands airport, Leeds Bradford and Liverpool John Lennon. Manchester airport by comparison carries 18 million passengers a year. Heathrow has 65 million a year. |
