Find out who was crowned Yorkshire Races' Best Dressed Lady of the Year... ![]() Doncaster Ladies Day 2007 Doncaster Racecourse re-opened in September 2007 after its £32m refurbishment - and with the return of the races came the return of Ladies Day! As always, it was a bright, bold and colourful affair. Look North's Christa Ackroyd was the judge for the Doncaster heat of this year's Best Dressed Lady competition. Winners from Ladies' Days at other local race meets (York, Beverley, Thirsk and so on) came together for the final of Yorkshire's 'Best Dressed Lady' and Carol Fawthrop, a nail technician from Tong near Bradford triumphed. ![]() Carol Fawthrop: Yorkshire's Best Dressed Lady Carol had won Best Dressed Lady at York's Ladies Day. Her outfit was a beautiful multi-coloured dress embroidered with sequins, and she had her matching hat specially made. And those girls who turned out without a hat or a fascinator need not worry - a hat stall was located close to the bars inside the racecourse building. Angela, who owns the hat stall Super Hats, travels the length and breadth of the country to sell her headwear at race meetings. "We often get a group of girls turning up - one without a hat - so they come to me for help!", said Angela. If you couldn't make it at all, never fear, we've gathered all the frocks, fascinators and a few famous faces together in our Ladies Day photo gallery. :: Check out the hats and frocks!last updated: 14/09/07 You are in: South Yorkshire > I Love SY > SY Features > Ladies at the races 2007 |
