BBC Radio Sheffield's CSV Action Desk launched the Good Neighbour Appeal so that you could help South Yorkshire get back on its feet. ![]() Countless people contacted our Good Neighbour Appeal to offer their time, belongings and cash to help the victims of the floods in June 2007. Click on the link below to see a list of some of the things which were donated, and how the money has been spent so far. :: The total so farThe South Yorkshire Community Foundation Appeal for the victims of the floods stands at £1.3m at the time of writing (17th December 2007), and Radio Sheffield's Good Neighbour Scheme raised £90,630 of this. :: You can still donateBBC Radio Sheffield's Good Neighbour Appeal drew to a close on 31st December 2007, but you can still donate money to help the victims of the floods. ![]() The South Yorkshire Community Foundation has been co-ordinating the flood relief across South Yorkshire and you can donate by credit or debit card by clicking on the Justgiving link. Donations big and small are gratefully accepted. NB: by telling us is if you are a UK tax payer, we can claim 28% of your donation back from the government. BBC Radio Sheffield's Managing Editor Gary Keown said: "Once again our listeners have been wonderful when they have been asked to help people in South Yorkshire. Its not that long ago that our listeners raised almost £400,000 for the Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice, and they've dug deep into their pockets again. "The floods were the biggest natural disaster to hit this region in living memory, and the money raised by our listeners will help rebuild lives and communities. I'd like to thank every single person who donated to this cause. Their money has helped people and communities in real need." :: Look North Floods DVDLook North put together a special DVD of the coverage of the floods, and sales from this raised £18,668. ![]() "We were amazed and delighted that the sale of the DVD has raised so much money to help flood victims and are extremely grateful to our viewers for being so generous," said Look North presenter Harry Gration.
