Peter Henley - political correspondent

Do you know of a political story you think we should be covering? South Today's political correspondent, Peter Henley would like to hear from you.

Peter writes:

Let me tell you about the people who inspire me. They're the people who have ordinary, straightforward lives until one day something really makes them think.

An injustice, like racism at work or an elderly neighbour really struggling to meet their bills. Or they have one of those bright ideas about how the world could be run better.
Most of us have a moment like that. We think, and then move on, busy with the day to day routine.

But these inspiring people say - wait a minute - I must do something about this. They start a website and organise a protest, or they write to their MP, or the local paper. Often they're surprised how many other people felt the same way - but were waiting for someone else to say something.

And it's surprising how often the ideas of that one person get taken up. You see, the good thing about democracy, what makes it so precious, is that public opinion really does matter.

Through BBC South Today your complaint, or your good idea, can go out to millions of people and start to improve the world for everyone.
