
The 2009 Norman Beaton Fellowships have been awarded to:
KATE LAYDEN
TESSA NICHOLSON
Kate came to the event via a workshop at the New Vic Theatre in Stoke and Tessa via a workshop hosted by the Kabosh Theatre in Belfast. Both join the Radio Drama Company on Saturday 25th July, along with the Carleton Hobbs Bursary Award winners Melissa Advani, Emerald O’Hanrahan, Piers Wehner, Joseph Cohen-Cole and Rhys Jennings.
This year, the judges awarded two runners-up prizes to NBF finalists. Their names and the theatres through whose workshops they joined NBF 2009 are below:
Dermot Daly............. West Yorkshire Playhouse
Sara Sadeghi ……......Theatre by The Lake, Keswick
Each of them will be cast via a freelance engagement in one of Radio Drama's 2009 summer/autumn/winter productions.
This year, twelve theatres from around the UK joined forces with Radio Drama in workshopping talent new to Radio. From the many actors who took part, 12 finalists were auditioned on 24th March at Bush House London by this year's judges who were Peter Leslie Wild (Drama Producer and chair), Fiona Kelcher (Drama producer), Sandra Boyce (agent), Ben Onwukwe (actor) and Rebecca Wilmshurst (Drama Production Executive).
