Paul Whitead Ab Fab. Never saw them before - just heard 1 track before, in a shop. Bought their 2 albums at the Avalon stage. A great highlight of the fest for me.
Alan I saw the performance on Sunday in the Avalon Tent, and the band played better than ever - but the sound set up was awful, with no prominence given to solo instruments when it was needed, and (perhaps appropriately?) a generally muddy feel. The new members, on hurdy gurdy / bagpipes / sax and bass, have obviously settled in and now really gel with the rest of the band. They all enjoyed themselves and it showed in the music. A nice mix of lively dance tunes and haunting songs, and all well received by the audience. But what was that dancer doing on stage?
Sam I saw them play on the Croissant Neuf stage on Saturday night too, and they absolutely *Rocked*!!
