hannah elswood
i have been doing carnival since i was 5 months old and i love it. The fact that you get money for prizes has nothing to do with that. It's a good even to meet friends

Amy Leitch
i moved from boridgwater 4 years ago due to my dads job i miss birdgwater so much and i travelled 400 miles from wigan to see the carnival who cares about the rain i think the performers where absolutely fabulous

Linda
Absolutely fabulous. I travel 200 mils each year to see the event. I am actually giving talks on the Carnival Procession in the East Anglia region this year, and could be bringing a coach load of peoople to see it. I'm hooked and have been for 30 years.

I had to move to hatfield, herts 47 yrs ago I have never forgotten my home town. I have stopped off many times over the years. and many times promised my wife that she must see the carnival, this year we made it rain or no rain it was all I expected to be. Those who stage it are to be congratulated on the best show I've ever seen, and that includes Meat loaf and Frank sinatra, live. Thanks Bridgwater for a great day.. hope to visit next year.

denn duke from the gremlins cc

Each year is better than the previous year. I travelled 200 miles to see the carnival last year and looking forward to this years, bringing a coach load hopefully! I am spreading the word as much as poss. to try and get some more funds raised for you all.

Maybe we can get some proper organisation from the carnival committes now the issue of weight has been raised. Every cart should now subject to being measured and weighed before they are allowed to enter. Issues on the length of certain carts were raised at Bridgwater but the committee could not appear to come up with a tape measure to check or even appear. Perhaps they can explain their actions with a reply to this or maybe the BBC would like to get a statement from them.

Moloko in Somerset
Omigod! All those lightbulbs - must have raised the global climate by a few degrees celcius. We tried to follow the Irish Rover but a man in a yellow jacket told us to behave. Grrr!! Well before they replace the whole event with a single energy saver bulb, keep on feelin' the heat!

Kristi Lamb
I didnt brave the rain unfortunately!! But i sure wish i were in england to see it this year! The Photographs look fab and even saw pic of relatives limekiln cart wich was fantastic! Hope to see it again next year maybe!!

anon
Even the programme refers to them as floats in some instances.

Karen Dunn
Yes I braved the rain!! I travelled all the way from Glasgow to see the Carnival and was very impressed by it all. Just felt very sorry for all those children taking part that got soaked!

anon
i think we are allowed to call them floats or carts cit doesn't matter as we all know what we are on about.

ashley
i went to the shepton mallet carnival last night, there was a few hold ups at the start but it was amazing my favourite carts were Lion king, doctor who, phantom and mickeys parade, great weather there was no rain and it wasn't cold but didn't finish till 10:30pm

ononomous
i thought that griffens cart was the best they should have won it i must admit the other carts were very good but girfeens had the wrong size geny but managed to pull through like they normally do they got 3rd even with 2000 light bulbs out what can i say to that an out standing result considering the weather was horrible but all of the peolpe on cart were still in a happy mood and carried on despite the weather well all i can say is LET EM HAVE IT GRIFFENS i wish you all the best at every other carnival can i just say how did griffens mange to get 6th at pethey with nearly all of it working yet at bridgwater they had 2000 lights out and came 3rd it dont make no sense but im not complaining

matthew cooke
i didnt brave it is was in it in wills carnival club and our cart is great halloween not hall queen

David (Bridgy Boy From South Wales)
I travelled over and brought the boys for the first time. The memory of thsir first carnival will last with them - they'll forgot the rain. Was very disapointed by the new Guy Fawkes cart at the beginning. Other carnivals have a princess, Bridgwater has Guy Fawkes but he was lost amid all the busy lights and music. Please return to the more sombre cart as used before.

Lewis White - Marketeers Member-
Marketeers entry "Showboat" was outstanding, it was energetic, and the crowd loved it! Marketeers definately deserved a top 3 position! Even the other clubs such as Gremlins, and Ramblers thought Marketeers had won it, or definately in the top 2, so when the results were finally read out, their was a distinct silence when Marketeers was placed 5th!

Christopher Dawkins
I travelled from Bridgend with My partner I was let down by the weather it spoilt the carnival for me I watched most of it but as I was so wet I missed all floats after the lion king. Hope better weather next year. Well done to the Jazz Bands Especially the little ones who even tho where freezing kept going.

sam harding
hi i thought the carnival was brilliant and i never miss it not even for the rain and i can't wait till next year to come!!!

ashley
the floats have arrived, now i just cant wait for the shepton mallet carnival tomorrow night.

sarah
though they all done really well as i know what they went through

Chloe Taunton
My favourite club are only a fairly small club who brought out a really good colourful float this year but when is was judges it was second from last boo hoo what are the judges looking for I know this sounds bias but it was far more tidier than a lot of the other floats - (keep your chins up Merlins CC Hawaii)

Richard
A good Carnival, disappointing weather. The weather can't be helped, but the marshalling arrangements can. We were at the end of the route, and the last few floats passed us by after 11pm. This is too late for the people involved, especially as many have travelled a fair distance. I think there are too many 'making up the numbers' entries which lengthen the procession, and detract from the overall spectacle. Floats from outside of the Guy Fawkes Circuit ought to be on an invitation-only basis. The several lengthy stoppages, mainly due to floats finishing the route, and blocking the road as they let the people off also detracted from the event. The marshalls really ought to insist on floats pulling well clear of the finish before stopping. I love Carnival, and will always attend. I think the organisers need to be aware that many other people are not as tolerant. If they want to increase the collection, and get more people in the crowd, they should take note.

Drowned but worth it!!
Came to visit - wonderful show that far exceeded our hopes being first timers. We were drowned and left early - 10.40. Did you manage to get the fireworks alight - what time did it all finish? Well done to everyone for such a spectacular event - we will definitely be coming again. Thank you.

unamanous
it was quite good but a bit wet

Martin
Just one small thing..... We perform on Carnival CARTS not Floats! floats carry milk or are something that bobs along on the water( i suppose they nearly did that on friday) : anyway could everyone please use the correct traditional terminology.... thanks, and if you wander why they are called carts... look up the history!!

Colin Exeter
Great night (except the weather!) and big thanks to all the clubs but the gaps between carts this year were the worst I've ever seen in over 30 years of going to the carnival. This really needs to be sorted out - people were streaming to the car parks way before the end as a mixture of the weather and gaps meant that at 11pm the carnival was still passing by. Carnival needs to sort this or their aim to attract even more people by changing the day and route (some holdups were cause by big carts having to very slowly negotiate some turns) will backfire if people are left standing around for long period waiting for carts to arrive.

jacky dexe
i travelled with 2 friends from swansea on friday to watch the carnival and what a fantastic night we had, the rain was heavey but that made no difference if people could stand for hours on the floats then it was the least we could do to stand and watch it was an amazine night weldone to everyone who took part you should be proud.

John Woodruff
The crowds who stayed on in the rain on Friday night fully deserve the praise of all of us carnivalites for the way in which they showed their appreciation to each entry. Without this the night would have lost some of its magic after all the weeks of expectation and excitement of the build up to the Carnival. Well done to you all as you helped us enjoy our big night out and helped raise our performances to give back to you. Many thanks from a member of Oasis Carnival Club of Frome.

Shaz
Cant this committee oraginse anything right, the holdups were inexcuseable, Broadway being a prime example, why were the floats not filtering into st.mary st and from broadway into Taunon Road, like they should do, as this route was tested and planned for, get to grips and sort it out. To the wonderful carnival clubs and walkers, you were all fantastic, and provided spectators with happy memories, of Carnival in Somerset, the weather cant be helped but this sloppy originisation maust be sorted out. If the cheif marshal cant do it get rid of him and give the job to someone who can. So to sum up a fantastic if wet night marred only by a committee that allows to many entires that it has now got out of hand, and sloppy orgainisation. Bridgwater Committee want to see how a carnival should be run, you should have gone to North Petherton, no problems, so if they can do it why cant you.

Terry
It was the wettest Bridgwater Carnival I've been to but it didn't matter, we still enjoyed it the same. A fantastic show the Bridgwater clubs were the best but now the others are better, in my opinion.

me
i got v.wet and cold boohoo i luvd da carts tho

Keith Hutchins
We got caught in the traffic. It poured with rain.---------------AND WE HAD A TREMENDOUS TIME !!!!! Many many thanks to all. Float builders (Large and small, Performers, all safety marshalls, car park stewards, In fact just about anybody who was involved in this wonderful spectacle. The effort and time involved must have been Herculanean. Will I be back next year --- YOU BETCHA !!!!!

Nick Hill
we travelled from Barry in South Wales for the Carnival and it was fantastic and well worth getting soaked through to skin , we doing it all again for last carnival in Weston :)Nick

James
Great floats the standard gets better every year just shame about the rain

Amy Middleton
Great carnival, Shame about the weather.

Andrew Macleur
Travelled from newport to see this feast of lights and music, and i must congratulate all of the performers for entertaining thousands on one hell of a horid night - well done all - well done Bridgwater

Brian Sweeting
It's a great pity that the photo's on display do not show the largest of the floats at a distance this to give the full impact of these wonderful creations. Very poor examples, in the main of the finest carnival illuminated carnival in the world.

Graham
The best carnival ever despite getting soaked and I felt sorry for all the people on the floats who carried on dancing or being perfectly still in the pouring rain, how all the lights didnt blow up with all that rain I just dont know. The squibbing at the end was wonderful and I will remember it all my life. I drove 150 miles to see it, thank you all the wonderful British Carnival Clubs for a great night, see you next year!

dave frost
How can BBC weather get it so wrong!-heavy rain-hail even sleet!? yet we still stayed till midnight to see the squibbing-super floats again well done to all the big clubs-loved spellbound (Ramblers)cosmic hotel(vagabonds)and phantom(Masqueraders) good to see little clubs particularly my old team Highbridge YFCC back on the road-may not of been life changing float but its the taking part-well done Critisism-The gaps were unexceptable on such a cold wet night to keep the show going was essential many people left before the last 20 floats as there was no sign of anything coming-a public address should of been sent round informing people of the problem-Also the big teams must stop creating such huge gaps to show off their carts-they may look impressive as they trundle along from a distance but with the audience soaked to the skin some did not appreciate this behaviour -forcast wet tonight for N Petherton-take your waterproofs!!
