Fancy yourself as a radio news reader?

BBC Somerset Sound is inviting teenagers to come and have a go and being a radio news reader. We're offering free fifteen minute sessions in the studio on board our bus in Taunton this weekend.

Do you want to find out what its like to be a news reader on BBC radio? Then come along to the BBC Somerset Bus this Sunday in Taunton.

Our staff will show you how our fully-equipped radio studio works and help you to prepare and read a news bulletin.

Your friends and family will be able to hear you on the bus speaker system and we’ll give you a copy on CD to take home with you. All this for free!

Become a newsreader on our mobile studio

After 10:30am the studio on the bus will be open for anyone under the age of 18 who wants to have a go on the microphone.

The BBC team will book people in for fifteen minute slots in the studio where they’ll get expert tips on how to read the news. Each person who takes part will record a bulletin and get to take it home on CD.

Friends and family

If you want, you can bring your friends and family to hear you read the news on the bus speaker system. Just come along to the bus at French Weir Park between 10.30am and 3pm and book your 15 minute slot.
