Bike Somerset

With the evenings getting lighter, what better time to get back on your bike and out into the Somerset countryside? Now a unique cycling scheme in Somerset has got underway, there's no excuse!

Launched by Somerset County Council on 14 March 2007 at Millfield School in Street, Bike Somerset brings everyone involved with cycling in the county into a one-stop shop.

The scheme hopes to boost tourism, encourage sustainable transport and reduce traffic congestion, as well as making Somerset England's number-one county for cycling.

"We're committed to winning the hearts and minds of residents around the way they view cycling for transport, leisure and sport use," said Cllr Paul Buchanan, Somerset County Council's Portfolio Holder for Economic Development.
