With the punters filling up The Firestone, you could tell that Wrecking Season were going to be a popular little band, even before their set.
They a played a good number of tunes, including their own work and a wide range of covers of The Buzzcocks, Graham Coxon, and The Libertines. Their covers came from all ages of punk/alternative music resulting in a great crowd-pleasing set. Their presence on stage and musicianship gave a friendly atmosphere, allowing the crowd to have a laugh and relax. Julian as a front man was lively, and engaged with the crowd. During their break, there were individual sets from various band members, including Toby Howarth, and Jason Loomes. Jason's set was quite impressive, delivering a clear, enjoyable song. Coming back after their break, the guys had obviously refuelled and they started with confidence. They delivered a fantastic cover of The Jam's That's Entertainment - it was their best cover of the night as it suited Julian's vocal talents down to a tee. Wrecking Season are Taunton's answer to a bit of retro-punk, and a good old jam that seems to be fading in our music scene today with the emergence of new bands.
