Gary KempstonGary's exhibition consists of abstract images which explore line and form. Within his work, he experiments with the texture of the pictures surface and also has an interest in the asymmetric composition and colour contrasts. "There is no particular message behind my art. They are visual works and personal themes I'm exploring," Gary says. "As well as paintings, I am working on a series of mono-prints and digital images for possible future exhibitions." Rick CraneFrom buying his first camera at the age of 12 or 13, Rick has been continuously snapping ever since, in the UK and further afield. "When you are travelling it seems there is so much to photograph. It's all so new and you have not yet taken it all for granted." One of Rick's main interests is on people's seemingly unhealthy relationship with wealth, sex and religion. He also takes pleasure in finding beauty in ugliness. His favourite photo is of a cloudy day at the Vatican, where numerous rows of chairs had been laid on grey stonework, in preparation for a speech by Pope John Paul II. She uses a wide variety of raw materials that are suited to what she wishes to portray. "I like my work to look interesting and very simple, I also like to use materials that people use every day." Sian got the inspiration for her latest collection from living in Oxford for the past year. It consists of paperback books, which in many cases are ripped through to create her desired artwork. "It's fair to say a lot of people didn't like me ripping them up. I did it gently I promise!" Martin's work was inspired by his time in the Royal Marines: "It educates your eye in terms of taking an image." Since then he has adopted Somerset for most of his present-day landscape photography. "The photos depict the beautiful landscape we live among." Landscape photography used to be Martin's main interest, but now lifestyle photography is just as important.
