Bath & North East Somerset Council's annual Spring Flower Show is one of the highlights of the city's events calendar.

This year's 20th event promises to be bigger and better than ever - there will be almost 100 exhibitors displaying and selling flowers, plants, arts and crafts, furniture, tools, fresh food and much more.

The show is not just for gardeners though; there are attractions for younger members of the family too:

  • A Children's Tree Climb, with tree experts on hand to help kids safely climb the enormous cedar tree adjacent to the bandstand in the park
  • An activity tent full of things to keep small hands busy
  • The Community Farming Marquee, run by Bath City Farm, with a Tractor Derby for kids
  • A host of competitions to enter in advance

All accompanied children under the age of 16 are admitted to the show free, and there is a crèche for children under five.

In the Main Floral Marquee, some of the country's leading nurseries will be displaying their plants, and floral art clubs from throughout the region will be exhibiting displays.

There will be gardening and floral art demonstrations taking place in the lecture tent at the end of the Main Floral Marquee throughout the show, and The English Garden Roadshow will be on site for the first time to give visitors the opportunity to put their questions to a panel of gardening experts, including Steve Bradley, Mary Payne and Jon Wheatley.

The British Food and Farming Marquee will be filled with delicious produce from British farms.

There will also be cookery demonstrations on the theme of Scrumptious Somerset - Food for Thought taking place in this marquee daily.

The Bath Beekeepers return to the show to stage their ever-popular displays and tempt us with their honey and beeswax products, and there will also be papermaking and basket-making demonstrations, and members of the Townswomen's Guild/Women's Institute will be demonstrating traditional crafts.

The Bath Spring Flower Show is well known for the talent on display because of the many competitions that it runs. The following are taking place:

  • Junior Competition, which gives children the chance to express themselves through art
  • Floral Art competition
  • Crafts Competition
  • Photography Competition
