Glasto 2005 Dance Tent Unsigned Final

The Glastonbury Dance Tent Unsigned Final took place on Saturday 5 March. Find out who won the prestigious prize of playing in the Dance Tent at this year's Glasto, and listen to exclusive interviews with the winners and judges.

Now in its second year, the Glastonbury Unsigned Performers Competition gets thousands of entries from bands competing for slots on the John Peel Stage, the Dance Tent, the Acoustic Stage and the Jazz World Stage. The overall winner gets to play on the Other Stage.

The Glastonbury judges listen to three tracks from every CD which is sent in, and finally whittle down the entries to just six bands per category, who then have to battle it out in the Finals competition at the Pilton Working Men's Club.

And the winner is...

The Fabrics

The six finalists who competed in the Dance Tent Unsigned Final were Chemical Dub Theory, Genesis Elijah, Luminous, The Bellagios, The Fabrics, and Twee.

The groups had just 20 minutes each to impress the judging panel, which comprised Malcolm Haynes, Jazz World and Dance Programmer, and the Glastonbury guru himself, Michael Eavis, among some of the other main stage bookers.

The finalists all took to the stage, but it was the first act of the night, The Bellagios, who made a lasting impression on the judges to win the exclusive slot in the Dance Tent at Glasto 2005.

He also drops a whopping hint as to who will be headlining the Dance Tent at this year's Festival.

- The Fabrics, who are from Bristol, talking about their music, what they've been getting up to before this competition, and how they feel about their performance.

PHIL KIERAN IS A MUST!!!!!

Scott
Hola at the Plump DJ's, Freestylers, Evil Nine and Adam Freeland shouts!! A bit of a mix-up from the Scratch Perverts would go down well too!!

Kull
i would love glasto to book hardcore dj's for a change, i reckon someone like Scott Brown, DJ Sy or DJ Brisk would absolutly blow the crowd away. its time to stop pushing hardcore to the side. the sound of hardcore has matured a lot over the past few years and the producers and DJ's who make it what it is today should get their time on the legendary dance stage at glasto.

susan banks
