Three of the greatest operatic legends will take centre stage at a spectacular free concert in Bath, which is set to attract attention from all around the world.

Jose Carreras, Placido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti will perform before the stunning backdrop of the Royal Crescent.

They'll perform before a crowd of 7,000 people who had to apply for tickets by ballot.

It's thought the event will be their last performance as a trio in Britain - Pavarotti announced earlier this year he plans to retire in 2005.

If you didn't get a ticket, don't miss the highlights on BBC TV and radio on Thursday 7 and Friday 8 August:

Travel advice

The event will mean heavy use of the city's traffic and transport systems.

Bath and North East Somerset Council has issued some helpful guidelines to help you avoid any chaos.

The event is free but ticket-only, so the first piece of advice is not to turn up if you do not have a ticket - you will be turned away.

  • Royal Avenue
  • Brock Street
  • Upper Church Street
  • Marlborough Lane
  • Marlborough Buildings

Parking

Parking is likely to be difficult.

Bath and North East Somerset Council is advising people to walk or use public transport.

All car parks in Bath open as usual, except Charlotte Street, which will be closed all day to all but disabled blue and orange badge-holders.

Parking will be free after 7pm.

Park and Ride

The Park and Ride will be free to ticket-holders after 6pm and will run on-demand after the concert until 1am.

Newbridge Park, Odd Down and Lansdown Park and Ride car parks all open at 6.15am.
