Sri Lanka’s former captain, Mahela Jayawardene became the first Sri Lankan cricketer to reach 10,000 Test cricket runs in Durban, South Africa. He joins with the elite club of eight other international cricketers who have reached the milestone. Jayawardene achieved the landmark in his career while playing for the second Test against South Africa. His successor as Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara is closely following him with 9170 Test cricket runs.
