Federation of National Organisations (FNO) has rejected the proposal of appointment of a Parliamentary Select Committee with a view to find a political solution to the national question. President of The Patriotic National Front Gunadasa Amersekara told a media briefing summoned by FNO on Tuesday, that no solution to national question should be discussed without the participation of the people. Speaking to the media on Thursday, cabinet spokesman Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella emphasised that President Mahinda Rajapaksa was willing to accept any solution to the national question suggested by a parliamentary select committee. "The members of parliament acting like robots will agree to any proposal the leader will put forward. They will not act according to their conscience", said Gunadasa Amersekara. The FNO which consists of ten member organisations, heavily criticised the 13th amendment to constitutions and said provincial councils formed under it are liabilities.
