The Religious Alliance for National Unity has accused the United Nations of creating an unstable political situation in the Middle East including Libya and Egypt.

The Forum at a media briefing on Tuesday criticised the report of the panel appointed to advise him by the Secretary General of the UN, Ban ki Moon.

Abetting west

The Forum accused the UN of abetting and helping the west of its neo-colonization efforts.

The co-chairman of the Forum,Ven.Kumuburugamuwe Vajira Nayaka thera said that the government had undertaken to rehabilitate and release members of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), who surrendered at the end of the thirty year war.

“No civilian was killed by the army intentionally. The operations were done with utmost discipline and that the whole world was astounded.” the thera said.

Another co-chairman of the Forum Fr.Sarath Hettiarachchi said that he had the opportunity to witness the war at its later stages, and therefore, no one should try to clarify about the nature of the war and humanitarian situation within a war.

Answering to a question, he said that it is not only Sri Lanka that has faced with such threats from the UN but there are other countries too who jointly should teach a lesson to the UN.

For that, ground work for an international campaign to voice against the UN has already begun, he added.

President of the International Hindu Association, Kurukkal, Babu Sharma alleged that it was the LTTE that avoided peace talks and hung on to war.

“Ban ki Moon should learn these facts before commenting on Sri Lankan situation.” he said.
