DGP denies LTTE presence in TN

Tamil Nadu police has rejected claims by Sri lanka government that there are LTTE camps in Tamil Nadu.

Director General of Police (DGP) Tamil Nadu, Letika Saran in a press statement said that police have confirmed that there were no LTTE elements opetrating in Tamil Nadu.

Sri Lanka Prime Minister DM Jayaratne making a statement in Parliament on March 9 said that government has information that there are LTTE secret training camps in Tamil Nadu.

No evidence

She said in her statement there is no evidence to claim the presence of alleged training camps.

DGP Saran said the intelligence wing of the state police will be monitoring such information,and keeping a vigil in coastal areas of Tamil Nadu

She said that political leaders in the state will be given adequate protection during forthcoming assembly elections.
