A lawsuit has been filed in the US against the Sri Lankan president, Mahinda Rajapaksa, over alleged extra-judicial killings. A US lawyer, Bruce Fein, says he is seeking thirty million dollars in damages for three Tamils whose relatives were killed by Sri Lankan government forces. He said the law allowed for the prosecution of crimes like torture and extra-judicial killings in non-US territory. He said president Rajapaksa would not escape justice by hiding in Sri Lanka. The office of Mr Rajapakse said the lawsuit was an attempt to make media headlines.
