Sri Lanka government has denied responsibility for shooting a Tamilnadu fisherman in Indian territorial waters. Sri Lanka High Commissioner for India Prasad Kariyawasam said that Sri Lanka Navy boats were not present in the area, where the alleged incident had taken place. Therefore, Sri Lanka Navy is not responsible for the shooting. But as it has been officially informed by the Indian government, an investigation will be done by the Sri Lanka Navy, Mr. Kariyawasasm said. Strict orders Sri Lanka Navy will not be motivated to shoot Indian fishermen, and they have been strictly advised not to resort to firing, he said. Sri Lanka High Commissioner for India Prasad Kariyawasam was summoned by the Indian Foreign Ministry, and was informed of the firing.
