Violence escalates in Jaffna
The number of violent incidents reported from Jaffna is on the increase with another killing and abduction on Friday night.

Within the past eight days, there were four assassinations, two disappearances and abduction but no one responsible has been taken to custody, said the residents.

Indicriminate killings

These killings and abductions have caused endless fear and anxiety among already terrified Jaffna people who want to know why these killings and who are behind these mysterious incidents.

The latest victim of this killing spree is Thavarasa Ketheeswaran, a postman who was shot in his house on Friday night.

On the same night in Vadamarachchi, Yoganathan Pushpadevi was abducted and carried in a van by six unidentified armed men.

Making a complaint to police, relatives of Pushpadevi have said that they have no clue of what has happened to her.

No arrests

As nothing has come out about the killings, disappearances and abductions, people in Jaffna request authorities to take action to arrest the culprits.

“Security forces may be aware of these incidents, and we want justice,” they told our correspondent.

Security authorities in Jaffna said that investigations on each of these incidents have begun and they would be able arrest culprits in the near future.
