Tamil leaders say lack of land to rebuild their war-ravaged lives is a serious issue
An alliance of Tamil parties in Sri Lanka has called on the government for a meaningful resettlement of Tamil displaced people in the north and east.

MK Sivajilingam, of Tamil National Liberation Front (TNLF), told BBC Sandeshaya that the resettled in the north are still facing many serious issues including the lack of land to rebuild their war-ravaged lives.

He added that many regional government officials are finding it very difficult to find solutions as a result of the intervention of Presidential Task Force (PTF).

The Tamil Party Alliance (TPA) which discussed the plight of internally displaced people (IDPs) on Saturday has also raised concern over the impact of impending floods.

"We requested the government to take immediate measures to face the situation," Mr Sivajilingam said.

Opposition parties as well as Tamil parties from the ruling coalition, including Minister Douglas Devananda, the leader of the Eelam Peoples Democratic Party (EPDP) attended the meeting was held at the residence of V Anandasangari, the leader of the Tamil United liberated Front (TULF) in Kilinochchi.

"We are urging the government to make early preparation for any impending disaster than waiting until crisis strikes," Mr Sivajilingam said.

He said that Minister Devananda too admitted that the intervention by the Presidential Task Force (PTF) has complicated the resettlement process.
