Officials in the southern India state of Tamil Nadu say they're investigating the death of an Indian fisherman in the Bay of Bengal on Tuesday. It is unclear how he died but a fisherman from the same village, who was fishing in the same waters at the same time, said his own boat was boarded by members of the Sri Lankan navy who stripped and beat him and his companions. Politicians in Sri Lanka and India have been talking about how to stop such incidents. In the past, the Sri Lankan government has accused Indian fishermen of supporting the Tamil Tiger rebels by smuggling goods to them and of straying into Sri Lankan waters to fish.
