On Monday SB Dissanayaka announced that he has decided to join the governing Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) to extend support to President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the January Presidential elections.

Speaking to media S.B. Dissanayaka said "I joined Sri Lanka Freedom Party to save UNP".

UNP national organiser said he reached the decision after being disappointed with the UNP and announced that he will resign from all UNP positions including Central Province Opposition leader post.

He also accused the UNP leader of leading the party in an undemocratic manner.
