Sri Lankan cricketers Mahela Jayawardene and Prasanna Jayawardene created a new world record for the sixth wicket partnership during the fourth day play of the first test against India at Ahmedabad. The score of 760 runs scored by sri lanka in the first innings against india is the higest first innings total scored by any team on Indian soil. The pair scored 351 runs between them breaking a 72 year old record of 346 runs between Don Bradman and Jack Fingleton made for Australia against england in 1937 at melbourne.
Sri Lanka also hold the record for the highest score in an innings in a test match.
