A delegation of Indian Members of Parliament from the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu will visit Sri Lanka for four days from Saturday to learn about the conditions of the Tamil displaced people in the IDP camps. The team , comprising members of parliament belonging to the ruling DMK, Congress and Viduthalai Siruthaigal Party, will meet Tamil civilians displaced in the recent war. DMK Member of Parliament Kanimozhi ( who is also the daughter of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Karunanidhi) told BBC Tamil Service, the team will stay in Sri Lanka until Oct 14. Asked whether the team would meet the Sri Lankan president Mahinda Rajapaksa and other government functionaries, she said they would definitely meet them. The team had expressed their intention to visit some camps but what is possible will be known only when the team goes there, she said. When pointed out that the Sri Lankan government had not given free and unhindred access for many international organisations into the camps, DMK Member of Parliament Kanimozhi said " finally everything comes down to hope". | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
