The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has expressed regret over attack on the Sri Lankan High Commission in New Delhi on Friday. The External Affairs Ministry said that it would take actions against the perpetrators of the incident. The first secretary of the Sri Lanka High Commission, Sugeeswara Gunaratne said that a group of about 40 individuals who entered the premises of the Sri Lankan High Commission had damaged some flower pots. "It is a public holiday to mark the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and the High Commissiopn was closed. No one was injured and no damage to vehicles as they were not there", he said. 'Retrieve Kachchathivu and Stop killing Tamilnadu fishermen' were among the placards the mob were carrying. "We deeply regret this unfortunate incident, which has involved an act of violence against a diplomatic Mission", the External Affairs Ministry said. The law enforcement agencies have swung into action.
