As a grave in Kallady in Batticaloa of the east was exhumed many relatives who have lost their loved ones flocked to identify the remains. They were anxious to find out whether their disappeared relatives were among the human remains unearthed. Human remains, clothing, spent bullets and keys were unearthed. According to local police authorities the land where the grave was found previously belonged to a police constable who was allegedly shot by the Tamil Tigers. Relatives Grieving relatives spoke of their fears to Shanthi Selvadurai Pradeepa Amirthalingam was looking for her husband who disappeared in the Kalladi area in 2004. "My husband said that he is going to Kalladi and never returned". Udaya Lakshmi had come to see if the remains of here 21 year old son Luxman who had disappeared in 2007 were to be seen. "Karuna's group abducted my son and trained him at one of their camps but my son escaped and returned to start working. He had a love affair with a girl in a nearby village where the parents of the girl did not give their consent and suddenly my son disappeared" said Udaya Lakshmi. Chandrika Rajmenan wanted to find out if the remains of her husband Rasathurai Rajmenan who disappeared while on business trip at the Kalawanchikudi area were to be found. The wife of Ponamblam Wijeyakumar said that her husband who was a member of a Para military group known as 'Razik' was taken away by the Tamil Tigers and never returned.
