The editor of The Sunday Leader newspaper that's often critical of the government has been shot dead in the capital, Colombo. Reports say Lasantha Wickramatunga was attacked by gunmen on motorcycles as he drove to work. He died in hospital after nearly three hours of emergency surgery to head wounds. The fatal shooting comes just two days after a privately-owned television station was attacked and set on fire.
