Eastern Province Chief Minister Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan alias Pillayan says that he has no reason to believe that LTTE was behind the assassination of TMVP Secretary Kumarasamy Nandagopan known as Ragu. The Chief Minister made this remark when he visited the Mahajana College, Batticaloa to pay his last respects to Ragu. "I have come to this conclusion following my visit to the crime scene in Athurugiriya and having a personal observation", he said. The Chief Minister said that incidents like the loss of Ragu were a painful experience for peace loving citizens in a democracy. This will negatively influence those who are moving from militancy to democracy, he said. "The assassination of Ragu should be strongly condemned and the perpetrators be brought to book. Only then the people will have trust on the government", the Chief Minister Chandrakanthan added.
