Sri Lanka Army has declared two 10 KM square “No Fire Zones” in Vishvamadu and Oddusudan in Mullaitivu as safe passage for civilians in LTTE controlled areas.

"Civilinas could use these corridors for safe passage with immediate effect", said Sri Lanka Army spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara.

These two places have been earmarked for assembly of Internally Displaced Civilians, he said.

He said these demarcated areas could be used by civilians as a safe passage to arrive in Vavuniya.

Brigadier Nanayakkara said that security forces will not attack these areas so that the civilian popuilation can move safely.

Brigadier Nanayakkara said that people have already reached government controlled areas by the sea and through A 9 road.
