The Colombo Magistrate Court has ordered to transfer five LTTE suspects from remand prison to police custody on a special directive by the president. State counsel told courts that the five suspects were held in police custody on a detention order until July 31. Later, the magistrate had to remand them since there was no further detention order to keep them under police custody following a technical error. The Colombo Magistrate after consideration of a detention order by the president, produced in courts on Wednesday by the attorney general’s department has decided to transfer the five suspects back into police custody. The magistrate said that objections to this order may be produced before the Supreme Court. Tissanayagam
The Magistrate Court on Wednesday ordered to remand Journalist J.S Tissanayagam and two others who were kept under police custody over five months.
