Sri Lanka’s veteran opener Sanath Jayasuriya is back in action for the upcoming one-day series against India. Mahela Udawatta is to replace Jayasuriya’s out of form opening partner Michael Vandort, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) announced on Tuesday. Middle order batsman Thilan Samaraweera and Wicket Keeper Prasanna Jayawardene were omitted while Dilhara Fernando and Jehan Mubarak were recalled for the ODI series by Sri Lanka. Tendulkar out India’s star batsman Sachin Tendulkar, meanwhile, is to miss the series due to an elbow injury. Tendulkar jarred his left elbow while attempting a catch on the second day of the third Test in Colombo on Saturday. An Indian team official said the 35-year-old would be sidelined for between two to three weeks and be replaced by Subramaniam Badrinath. He had only returned from injury for the three-Test series, having missed last month's Asia Cup in Pakistan. Sri Lanka won the three Test series against India by 2-1 on 11 August.
