Pakistan tour 'only after IPL'

The proposed tour of Pakistan will be rescheduled to accommodate the Indian Premium League (IPL), Sri Lanka cricket authorities said.

A spokesman for the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) told BBC Sandeshaya that Sri Lanka and Pakistan will negoatiate new dates for the triangular tournament with Bangladesh.

SLC chairman Arjuna Ranatunga has agreed to send Sri Lanka team after Australia postponed the Pakistan tour scheduled from April 23 to May 5 citing security reasons.

 As per the Chairman Mr. Arjuna Ranatunga's discussions with the PCB Chairman, Sri Lanka Cricket is prepared to assist Pakistan only after the scheduled IPL Tournament in India

Pakistan cricket board has promised 800,000 USD if Sri Lanka sends the full team, media reports said.

However, many senior players have reportedly raised concerns as it coincided with the inaugural IPL 20-20 tournament in India.

The IPL, in which many Sri Lankan senior players are contracted to play, is to begin on 18 April.

"As per the Chairman Mr. Arjuna Ranatunga's discussions with the PCB Chairman, Sri Lanka Cricket is prepared to assist Pakistan only after the scheduled IPL Tournament in India," a statement issued by the SLC on Monday said.
