LTTE too little too late - Dayan
The Tamil Tigers commitment to safeguard the ceasefire agreement is too little too late, says Dayan Jayathilleke, the permanent UN representative for Sri Lanka in Geneva. Commenting on the commitment expressed by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) to stand by the CFA, Jayathilleke said that the LTTE could not be trusted for its words. This has been very evident throughout the past, he said. "The LTTE should have made such commitments to safeguard the Ceasefire Agreement in 2002 and not in 2008", Sri Lanka's permanent representative for UN, Dayan jayathillke said. He said that comparatively the LTTE has violated the CFA much more than the government. The LTTE statement has come out at a time when it is being militarily defeated by the government, Jayathilleke added.
