Military clarifies details
In our story with the headline "Soldiers and Tigers injured in Yala", we quoted military spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanyakkara about an earlier statement by the commander of the army.

In a reference to earlier attacks in the south, we reported as the spokesman saying, "the commander meant any Sinhala political group" was responsible for the attacks in the south.

In a statement issued by brigadier Nanayakkara, it was pointed out to us that his quote was not reported accurately.

The statement say, that the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army Lieutenant General Fonseka in an earlier statement meant, "various Sinhala sections in the south supporting the LTTE cause" were responsible for the attacks.

The statement says the commander did not refer the groups involved in the incidents as "political".
