The Supreme Court has ordered the Central Bank of Sri Lanka to release 30 million rupees from the bank accounts of Tiran Alles. The Central bank which investigates the allegations that Tiran Alles has given money to LTTE frozen the bank accounts belongs to him. Tiran Alles who is the owner of the Standard Newspapers was the former head of Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). In a petition Tiran Alles argued that he could not pay the salaries of his employees and his business struggle without access to the Bank Accounts. Close confident of Mangala Tiran Alles who is a close confident of ex minister Managala Samaraweera was taken to custody on suspicion that he has given money to LTTE. He lost his post as the head of CAA after ministers Sripathi Sooriyaarachi and Mangala Samaraweera were sacked by President Mahinda Rajapaksa. In June 2007, Alles was released on bail by the Colombo Magistrate Courts after being held in custody on allegations of providing funds to Tamil Tigers.
