"We have the responsibility before the whole world to look after the family of the murdered Fernando. We have the responsibility that the murderer is brought before the law without any delay and see that the accused get apt punishment", WFFP said in a statement.

WFFP has expressed it’s deepest sorrow and grievance at the death of Warnakulasooriya Canicius Fernando at the Madurai Central Jail who came to the Jail to meet the Sri Lanakan prisoners in the jail.

"It seems that the Security Guard, opened fire upon him and killed him. It is unimaginable that such a horrifying murder is taking place in India. The very people who are supposed to give security to the prisoners and their relations are becoming murderers. We cannot tolerate this anymore", the statement added.

"We join our struggle to stop arresting the innocent fisherpeople in the boaders of india. People are neighbours and are more important than boarders", WFFP statement added.
