Refugees say life is difficult in Tamilnadu camp
A group of refugees have returned back to Sri Lanka from the southern Indian state of Tamilnadu.

19 refugees who have left Mandapam refugee camp were produced before Mannar magistrate by the Sri Lankan police.

The group was earlier arrested by Sri Lanka navy in Talai Mannar.

Though the Indian authorities treated them well, it was difficult to find a reasonable job basic facilities were also inappropriate, the refugees said.

No income

Shashikumar Shanthini has left Trincomalee on 16 August 2006 as violence escalated between the government troops and Tamil Tigers.

"Crushing metals was the only job available for us," she told journalist P Manikkawasagam.

Sinnathurai Rajendran

Sinnathurai Rajendran, from Kuchchaveli, Trincomalee has decided to leave his wife and children in the Tamilnadu camp.

"My brothers and sisters repeatedly asked me to come back since I was admitted to the hospital for food poisoning," Rajendran said.

13 refugees from Kuchchaveli, Trincomalee were handed over to Mannar Divisional Secretary, Stanley de Mel, by the Mannar magistrate.

Arrangements are to be made for them to return home on Monday.

Five refugees from Mannar and another from Jaffna have returned to home.
