President Mahinda Rajapaksa's political ally, Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) has decided to vote against the government in a parliamentary vote. JVP says the government is to produce temporary budget of Rs. 650 million to the parliament as an extra expenditure for the next few months. JVP parliamentary group leader, Wimal Weerawansa, told journalists in Colombo that the party will vote against government's proposal for extra money. Jumbo cabinet The party voiced strong protest against the jumbo Cabinet of ministers while the cost of living is sky rocketing. "This extra money is needed because so many new ministries were introduced," Weerawansa said. It is the first time the JVP votes against the Rajapaksa administration in the parliament. The JVP, which campaigned for the Rajapaksa presidency in the November 2005 elections, supported the government while sitting in the opposition ranks.
