Deportation not best solution - Rajitha
Minister Rajitha Senaratne
Eviction done on recommendation by Security
The government has taken action to move Tamil lodgers from Colombo on security grounds as they they do not have a valid reason to stay.

Government Minister Rajitha Senaratna says that although it’s not the fairest solution, the government did not have any other option but to transport Tamil lodgers out of Colombo on the recommendation of the security forces.

“If we don't listen to the security forces they might ask the politicians to take over security” said Minister Senaratna.

“These people were not evicted forcibly, they volunteered to leave”, he said.

Responding to a question the Minister said that if these people were evicted forcibly it’s not acceptable.

'Helping LTTE'

Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) says the government can not defeat the LTTE 'terrorism' by harassing Tamil people.

JVP MP Vijitha Hearath reacting to government’s action to evict Tamil people from Colombo told Sandesaya that it is a wrong and foolish decision by the government.

“The government is pushing Tamil people to terrorism and closer to Prabhakaran. We strongly protest this move by the government and we clarified our position in parliament”, he said.

Government gave protection when ‘Daya Master’, a LTTE leader was brought to Colombo and allowed him to be treated at Apollo Hospital, why this treatment to ordinary Tamil people, he questioned.

These people would have come to Colombo for treatment, official work from government or other business, MP Vijitha Herath said.

The government should investigate and punish the culprits, JVP MP Vijitha Herath added.
