More refugees flee shell fire
Further three hundred and fifty families add upto the number of refugees already in Batticaloa, officials say.

Following the incident on Tuesday where fourteen including diplomats and members of security forces were injured by LTTE artillery fire, security forces had continued to attack LTTE controlled areas with mortar fire.

The refugees said that they fled the area for their safety.

Over one thousand and four hundred members from the three hundred fifty families fled LTTE held areas through the lagoon and the land.

Narly 80,000 refugees have taken shelter in government held areas in the Batticaloa district . They include those who have come from Trincomalee.
