Anuradhapura magistrate supervised exhuming of bodies
The authorities of Sri Lanka have exhumed eleven more bodies of murdered aid workers in Trincomalee.

Four more bodies remained to be exhumed but relatives of a Muslim youth have objected as it is against their religion.

Journalist RG Dharnmadasa who visited the scene told BBC Sandeshaya that bodies of a father and a daughter were buried in one place.

Eleven bodies were exhumed from four separate cemeteries, he said.

Relatives not present

Anuradhapura magistrate Wasantha Jinadasa postponed exhuming three bodies as relatives did not attend on Wednesday.

17 aid workers of Action Against Hunger (ACF) were found murdered on 04 august in Muttur.

SLMM described the killing as an appaling "war crime"

Two bodies exhumed on 16 of September are kept in Colombo for further examination.

Forensic expert at Anuradhapura hospital, Dr. Dhananjaya Waidyaratna, said the second post-mortem will be held in the presence of Australian monitors.

The post-mortem will not try to determine the time of the killing, he said.

No confusion over date

“We will try to find whether there are any more bullets in the bodies that we didn’t find earlier,” he told BBC Sinhala.

Condemning the killing of the aid workers as a “war crime”, the international community demanded an independent investigation.

The international truce monitors ruled that Sri Lanka military was responsible as the military denied access to monitors.

But the government accused Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) of being biased and said the Tamil Tigers were running the town at the time of the killing.

Dr. Waidyaratna said the killing has happened between 03 and 04 August.
