The United National Party (UNP) is accusing the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) for politicising the state armed forcers in a bid to capture power. Speaking at a press briefing in Colombo UNP parlimenterian Hemakumara Nanayakara said that access given to JVP parliamentarians to address the security forcers should be withheld immediately. The UNP spokesman also questioned the motives of the Manel Mal movement, an organization set up recently by Sinhala nationalists with the blessings of President Mahinda Rajapaksa. President Rajapaksa wore the first badge to be given out by the Manel Mal movement launched in mid July. Nanayakkara said that the JVP which led bloody insurrections in the past is once again creating an atmosphere for a dangerous conspiracy through the Manel Mal movement. “We urge the president to take serious consideration of this disturbing trend’’ said Nanayakara.
The MP from the South said that the JVP and JHU are driving away the Tamils from the government. He said that it is unfortunate that the government is taking advice from such parties. “They are like half baked cakes, good only for the dustbin” said Nanayakara | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
