President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s special envoy, Minister Rohitha Bogollagama, warned of ‘severe consequences’ if the law enforcing authorities fail to take action against looters and troublemakers. There have been reports of looting after more than 14 dead and 40 injured in a series of blasts in Trincomalee. Crowds set fire to more than 10 shops along the Central Road and smokes were coming out from burning shops, Mallawarachchi added. He said the city was tense as crowds were gathering in search of their relatives. Earlier, two policemen were killed and two hurt in a blast near the port.
