Helen olafsdottir, spokeswomen of the truce monitors said that they are concerned for the security of their staff.

“The violence is not making possible to do our regular activities’’ said olafsdottir.

She said that this is a very serious matter and that the SLMM urges both parties to do what ever possible to restore normalcy.

Olafsdottir said that it is becoming more and more difficult to conduct monitoring activities..

Although the SLMM team in Trincomalee will not conduct monitoring activities they will still be in the area said the spokeswoman.

The SLMM says that the suspension is limited to Trincomalee district only and that they plan to resume normal monitoring activities as soon as the situation calms down.
